July 2023 Updates

Several Summer Tours - including this weekend!

ASAHI @ County Grounds Park

A Simple And Healthy Idea

Join Sue for a guided session in the Asahi Nordic Health fitness program in the middle of the beautiful County Grounds Park. Asahi is a Finnish mind-body health practice ideal for anyone who wants to maintain flexibility and balance while gently increasing muscle stamina. It is a low impact exercise which is also adaptable for each participant's abilities, and requires no mat or extra equipment. Join the group in being led through specific breathing and motion exercises that systematically relax the whole body.

The first session this year was well attended and greatly appreciated. There are two more sessions scheduled for 2023. Sign up at the links below:

History Tour

The history tour is back after a 18 month gap! Jonathan Piel has extensively researched and documented the history of the relics in County Grounds Park. As tour guide, he includes photos, maps, stories, and 1950s video that bring over a century of park history alive including visiting many of the remaining remnants.

The ~1-mile guided hike includes several pre-designated stops: 120-year old field-stone stairs, split-boulder pavilion, 110-year-old 6' stone dolphin vase, former waterfalls, 300-year old oak forest, former sunken gardens, and extensive onsite mental health hospital history.

There are two sessions scheduled for the remainder of 2023. Sign up at the links below:

  • In person at the tour in cash, or checks made out to “The Park People of Milwaukee” with “County Grounds” in the memo

  • Again, these tours are free, any donations are based on your inspiration
